2. What Pet Matcher Is

Pet Matcher is an independent pet adoption aggregator. We collect publicly available pet listings from UK rescue organisations and present them in a single, searchable interface.

Pet Matcher is not a rescue organisation. We do not house, care for, or rehome animals. We do not make the adoption process. When you click on a pet listing , you are taken to the rescue organisation’s own website where the adoption process is managed entirely by them.

The Site also provides:

• A pet adoption matchmaking service, available to registered users
• Access to optional third-party services such as pet insurance quotation journeys
• Marketing communications and perks, including those made available through Tailster Perks, a brand operated by JPLC Limited, subject to your consent

3. Access to the Site

The Site is made available free of charge. We do not guarantee that the Site, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw or restrict access to all or part of the Site without notice.

You are responsible for ensuring that anyone who accesses the Site through your internet connection is aware of these Terms and complies with them.

4. Accuracy of Listings

Pet listings on Pet Matcher are sourced from rescue organisations and are updated regularly. However, we cannot guarantee that all information is accurate, complete, or current at all times. Pets may have been adopted, details may have changed, or listings may have been removed by the rescue since our last update.

Always verify the details directly with the rescue organisation before making any decisions about adoption.

5. Acceptable Use

You must not use the Site:

• In any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful way
• To upload or transmit malicious code
• To infringe intellectual property or privacy rights
• To interfere with the operation or security of the Site
• For competitive intelligence or data harvesting purposes
• To impersonate another person or entity
• To create a negative experience for other users, as determined at our sole discretion
• In a way that is unprofessional or harmful to any Pet Matcher staff member, as determined at our sole discretion
• To send threatening or potentially defamatory messages to other users
• Using a profile or account with incorrect or false information
• To copy, mirror, inject, filter or modify any content on the Site without our written consent
• To use automated tools to access, copy or monitor the Site or its content
• To circumvent any measures implemented to prevent breaches of these Terms

It is your obligation to comply with all applicable local, national and international laws.

6. Third-Party Websites

Pet Matcher contains links to external websites operated by rescue organisations and other third parties. We have no control over the content, availability or practices of these websites. Linking to a third-party site does not imply endorsement, affiliation or sponsorship.

When you click “Meet [pet name]” on a listing, you will be taken to the rescue’s own website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or terms of those external sites and encourage you to read them before submitting any personal information.

7. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in the Site and its content belong to Pet Matcher or its licensors. The Pet Matcher name, logo and website design are the property of JPLC Limited.

Pet images and listing content remain the property of their respective rescue organisations and are displayed for the purpose of promoting pet adoption. Rescue organisations, and any other rights holders such as photographers, may ask us to remove their content or listings at any time, and we will do so promptly.

8. Data Protection and Privacy

We process personal data in accordance with UK data protection law. Details of how we use personal data, including marketing consents and third-party services, are set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

9. Disclaimer

The Site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, representations and conditions, whether express or implied.

In particular, we make no warranty that:

• Listings are accurate, complete or up to date
• The Site will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Any pet will be available for adoption when you contact a rescue

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pet Matcher shall not be liable for:

• Loss arising from reliance on listing information
• Loss arising from interactions with rescue organisations or third-party websites
• Indirect or consequential losses
• Any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the Site or third-party services

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on the Site with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of those jurisdictions.
